oh my goodness....I was working on a Star Trek computer game ages ago (by my clock) as a personal project, and now as I'm searching for galaxy wallpapers I find that the person that created the splash screen for the game actually ripped it straight off of your dA profile (and told me it was his own creation). I'm so sorry...that really frustrates me.

Luckily it was just a personal thing that wasn't played by more than a handful of people and was never completed, but still.

yeah.

it wouldn't be the first time.

I've had many problem with people taking them for their free online games and such(even had a couple that weren't free at the time)

glad you stopped by and mentioned it to me tho...lets me know it must not be too bad. haha

It turns out to be the best way to animate planets with good results, still doesnt beat hard core post rendering work with photoshop on a single large frame to make a wallpaper etc.

hehe indeed.

its just nice when you work with 3dsmax like this that you can actually get a real round planet, instead of faking one in just photoshop.

try painting an entire planet(seamless as well), just as you see with like the image, I'm guessing, you used.
there's something really awesome working on an entire landskape from afar. then when you do a full day cycle animation,or even multiple shots from different perspectives with the planet, it look like a different image nearly every time.

can be a lot of fun and time consuming if you put in much work; like one of my planet textures spans appox' 9500 pixels wide, but worth every minute spent on it. .:: smug look ::.
